'80s movie icon who quit acting is now unrecognizable as she returns to spotlight for rare appearance

Eighties film favorite Jenette Goldstein has made a rare public appearance—and fans were struck by how different the actress looks today.

Goldstein became an international star after playing Private Vasquez in James Cameron’s 1986 sci-fi classic Aliens.

She went on to appear in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Near Dark and Lethal Weapon 2, among several other major films during the 1980s and early 1990s.

Nearly four decades after her breakthrough, however, Goldstein leads a considerably more private life away from Hollywood’s spotlight.

Now 66, she has not had a live-action screen role since 2014. Instead, much of her time is devoted to running her lingerie company, Jenette Bras.

She recently traveled to Australia to mark the 40th anniversary of Aliens. At the event, Goldstein looked a world away from the hard-edged space Marine she portrayed all those years ago.

The actress appeared in a new video with former co-star Mark Rolston as the pair prepared to attend an anniversary gathering in Adelaide this weekend.

In the Instagram clip, shared Saturday, Goldstein wore a black top and striking turquoise glasses. Her dark brown hair was also marked by a prominent streak of white.

“Guess who?” Rolston says in the video before Goldstein explains that they will be attending the event with “our fellow castmates.”

“Come on out and see us,” Rolston adds.

Goldstein made her acting debut in Aliens in 1986, launching a career that quickly established her as a familiar face in Hollywood.

She next played the enigmatic vampire Diamondback in the cult horror film Near Dark.

Her subsequent credits included The Presidio, Miracle Mile, Lethal Weapon 2, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Fair Game, Living Out Loud, Star Trek Generations, Titanic and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Her final live-action film appearance came in 2014’s Under the Hollywood Sign. She later provided a voice in two episodes of the anthology series Star Trek: Short Treks in 2019.

By the early 2000s, Goldstein’s acting work had slowed considerably. She subsequently moved into business, opening her Los Angeles lingerie brand, Jenette Bras, in 2009.

The company’s slogan, “The alphabet starts at D,” highlights its focus on serving women with fuller busts.

On the Jenette Bras website, Goldstein recalled that she did not receive her first “proper bra fitting” until she was in her forties. That experience revealed she had been wearing the wrong size for years.

Once she found the correct fit, she said the difference was immediate.

“My back stopped hurting. My straps stopped digging into me. I stopped adjusting myself all the time,” she said.

“It was easier to stand up straight. I looked good in clothes that had never fit properly before. And I wondered: I’ve been a working actress in Hollywood for 20 years. How come nobody told me about this before?”

“Most women blessed with a figure like ours are wearing the wrong bra size,” she continued.

“Chances are that half of your breast is bulging out somewhere right now. I call it Mall Bra Syndrome.”

“Instead of designing bras to fit our bodies, they expect our bodies to fit their limited range of bras.”

“I come from a long line of women who are well-endowed and short on patience. So enough already. Quality lingerie, expert service and a stylish store. You’re welcome.”

Today, Jenette Bras operates three boutiques in California and another in Atlanta, where Goldstein offers fittings and sells lingerie.
