Taylor Swift surprised longtime fans Tuesday night by performing her hit “Shake It Off”—not in a packed stadium, but at Nashville’s much smaller Brooklyn Bowl.
The pop superstar joined country singer Kane Brown onstage, reconnecting with her musical roots during the “Tight Ends and Friends” concert hosted by her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce.
Sources said the unexpected appearance was both a show of support for Kelce and a chance for Swift to enjoy herself—motivated, as one insider put it, by the “f-word”: fun.
“She thought it would be fun to perform, and it ensured that attention stayed firmly on Tight End University, which Travis cares deeply about,” an insider told Our News Outlet. “Travis has attended so many of her shows and even joined her onstage. Now she is returning the favor.”
This year’s three-day camp, founded in 2021 by Kelce and fellow star tight ends George Kittle and Greg Olsen, comes as Swift navigates reports of a falling-out with former friend Blake Lively.
“There was no hidden agenda. It was simply for fun—not an attempt to distract people from any controversy involving Blake,” the source added, referring to the ongoing legal battle involving Lively and her “It Ends With Us” co-star Justin Baldoni.

“There was no hidden agenda. It was simply for fun,” an insider said of Swift’s appearance amid the legal drama involving Blake Lively
Swift became entangled in the high-profile dispute between 37-year-old Lively and 41-year-old Baldoni after text messages disclosed in Baldoni’s countersuit described Swift and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, as Lively’s “dragons.”
Baldoni’s legal team also claimed in court documents that Lively attempted to pressure Swift into publicly supporting her and encouraged the singer to delete their messages.
Swift was listed as a potential witness, but Baldoni’s team later withdrew its subpoena after her father, Scott Swift, allegedly supplied documentation concerning claims that Lively’s attorneys had threatened to release private conversations between the two women. Lively’s attorney rejected that allegation.
The dispute appears to have brought Swift’s decade-long friendship with Lively to an end.
“Being pulled into headlines—whether it was Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Scooter Braun or now Blake—is upsetting for her,” the insider said. “But family and a sense of normalcy are what matter most to Taylor.”
Since then, Swift has been spending time in Nashville with Kelce and a circle of longtime friends. The insider said that “old friends, being in Nashville and performing in intimate settings reconnect her with why she loves making music,” adding that returning to familiar territory “is not a gimmick. It is something she genuinely wants to do and that makes her happy.”

A second source said Swift is “not worried about the current legal drama,” because others are handling the matter and she has nothing to conceal. The singer, the source added, does not intend to dwell on the past.
Friends have encouraged Swift to focus on the future and supported her throughout the turmoil. At Brooklyn Bowl, the 14-time Grammy winner and the Kansas City Chiefs star—both 35—also spent time with Swift’s high school best friend, Abigail Anderson, and Anderson’s husband, Charles Berard.
“We planned that three minutes ago,” Swift told the crowd after making her spontaneous appearance—the first time she had performed publicly since completing her massive, record-setting Eras Tour in December.

For the Music City event, Swift also embraced a look inspired by her early career, pairing an EB Denim dress with knee-high Versace boots. The ensemble recalled the A-line dresses and cowboy boots associated with her country beginnings.
Swift has long relied on Anderson, whom she met on their first day of freshman year at Tennessee’s Hendersonville High School when they were both 15. While Swift’s famous friend group has changed considerably—including Lively’s departure—Anderson has remained a constant presence. Swift famously wrote about her in “Fifteen,” from the 2008 album “Fearless.”
Anderson, now a new mother who announced her pregnancy using lyrics from Swift’s “But Daddy I Love Him,” has appeared in the “Fifteen” and “Picture To Burn” music videos. She was also featured in Swift’s 2020 documentary “Miss Americana” and supported her during the Nashville dates of the Eras Tour, underscoring the longevity of their friendship.
Swift has largely remained out of the spotlight since the Eras Tour concluded. She and Kelce withdrew to his luxury rental property in Boca Raton, Florida, and have also spent time at his high-end home in Kansas City.
Her return to Nashville—where her career began—has delighted devoted Swifties, particularly after news broke that she had reclaimed ownership of her master recordings.
In a handwritten letter published on her website last month, Swift, whose fortune is estimated at more than $1 billion, said profits from the blockbuster Eras Tour helped fund the purchase of her earlier recordings and “her entire life’s work.”
Although Swift still occasionally appears at glamorous dinners in New York City, she has maintained a far lower profile in recent months. That, however, does not mean she has cut ties with her celebrity friends.
“She is not avoiding her A-list friends; she is simply busy,” the insider said. “She will see Selena [Gomez] and everyone else in time. For now, she is just living her life.”
