Blake Lively hit with another massive setback as her booze line is 'shutting down'... following legal war with Justin Baldoni

Blake Lively’s alcohol brand, Betty Booze, is reportedly “slowly shutting down” amid her legal battle with former It Ends with Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

The Gossip Girl actress, 39, entered the beverage market in 2021 with Betty Buzz, a line of non-alcoholic mixers. Two years later, she expanded into alcoholic drinks with the launch of its sister brand, Betty Booze.

Since the company was established, Lively’s business has submitted several trademark applications. While the Betty Booze and Betty Buzz trademarks remain active, trademark records reviewed by TMZ reportedly show that a number of other applications linked to the company have been abandoned.

The abandoned applications reportedly included products such as beer-based beverages, non-alcoholic carbonated drinks and other items.

The brands’ social media accounts have also gone quiet. Betty Buzz last posted on Instagram on April 5, when it shared a drink recipe. Betty Booze’s most recent post appeared on September 28 and promoted its vodka iced tea.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Lively for comment.

Betty Buzz products have been available at major retailers including Whole Foods Market and Sprouts Farmers Market, while Betty Booze has been stocked by Total Wine.

Lively, who recently attracted attention in a revealing black mini dress, launched the alcohol brand despite having previously said that she does not drink.

“I don’t drink. I know that’s odd coming from the wife of an infamous gin slinger,” she said when Betty Buzz was introduced in September 2021, referring to her husband Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation American Gin company.

“Over the past many years of mixing but not drinking cocktails, it became clear mixers are the unsung heroes of the drink world and deserve just as much love as alcohol.”

“We’ve spent the last three years crafting Betty Buzz and are so excited for people to finally taste it,” she added.

Lively said the brand’s name was also chosen as a tribute to her family.

“My dad’s name was Ernest Brown Jr but he was known as Ernie Lively,” she explained. “He gave up his last name when he married my mom and any success here, or I, have experienced has been in a name that isn’t his.”

She continued: “So when I was working hard to build this company, I wanted any success to be in a name that was meaningful to him. Betty was his mom and his sister’s name.”

“Also, Ernie would not be the best name for a mixer.”

The launch drew criticism from some fans, who accused the actress of pursuing a “money grab.”

“If drinking isn’t your thing… how do you know of [sic] it tastes correct or good?” one person asked.

Another joked: “I don’t drink but you should [HAND ON FACE EMOJI].”

In 2018, Lively described herself as “an amazing mixologist” even though she does not drink alcohol.

She told PEOPLE that she does not “like the effects of alcohol” and feels better when sober.

Lively has also ventured into beauty. She launched the haircare company Blake Brown Beauty in 2024, around the time her film It Ends with Us was released.

The reported developments involving Betty Booze come after Lively’s extended legal dispute with Baldoni, her co-star and director on It Ends with Us. The case was settled shortly before the scheduled trial.

Baldoni was ultimately ordered to pay $400,000 toward Lively’s legal fees.

Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer, in December 2024.

Shortly before the trial was due to begin earlier this year, Lively was awarded slightly more than $400,000 of the $8 million in legal fees she sought in connection with the dispute and his countersuit.

Should celebrities launch alcohol brands if they don’t actually drink themselves?

In her lawsuit, Lively alleged that she was sexually harassed and subjected to retaliation. She claimed Baldoni orchestrated a smear campaign to damage her reputation after she complained about his behavior on set.

Baldoni denied the harassment allegations and countered that Lively had made the complaints in an effort to gain creative control of the film.

The countersuit was dismissed in June 2025. Then, in May of this year—just two weeks before the scheduled trial—the former co-stars reached a settlement.

In a joint statement, they said they “remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments.”
